Buscetto Again To Lead Safe Futures Safe Walk in Honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Safe Futures is excited to invite the community to one of our most meaningful events of the year, our Annual Safe Walk at the Waterford Duck Pond Park on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 8 am. The event is held in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Every year, this inspiring event brings the community together to raise awareness about domestic violence, spread the word about how to get help and raise funds towards life-saving services for the one in four women and one in seven men who experience abuse nationwide. Safe Futures is proud to provide support, hope, and above all, safety, to the thousands of victims of abuse and their families in Southeastern Connecticut.

As tradition goes, the Honorary Chair of Safe Futures' Safe Walk is Mike Buscetto, owner of Filomena's Restaurant in Waterford and long-term supporter of Safe Futures. Mike has dedicated his life to improving the region of Southeastern Connecticut and we thank him for his ongoing support!

"This remains a very important event, not just to me, but to all of us," Buscetto said. "At the end of the day, a great community evolves when people help people."

Also returning to our Safe Walk this year will be the Second Annual Craft Fair from 8-11 am featuring local artists, craft vendors, raffle baskets for all ages and interests, breakfast food trucks, live music, and more. The craft fair and same-day registration will begin at 8am and the Safe Walk will kick-off at 9am.

As a way to kick-off the Safe Walk, all are invited for a special "Celebrity Bartenders" launch event with Safe Futures staff on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 12-2 pm at Filomena's Restaurant. Come enjoy a drink among great company, meet our Safe Futures team, and learn more about how you can get involved. We look forward to seeing you there!

Online registration for our Safe Walk is now open! The cost to register is $25 for adults and free for children and students. All are invited to join us by registering online at safefuturesct.org/safewalk.
