The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is a regional membership association serving more than 1,300 businesses and organizations. We work to support economic growth, provide networking opportunities, and promote our region through events, programs, and community initiatives.

Position Summary
The Chamber is seeking a part-time Graphic Design & Communications Intern to support our marketing and design needs during an approximately 12-week period, est. mid-October 2025 through mid-January 2026, averaging 15-20 hours per week.

This role offers hands-on experience in digital and print design, event marketing, and nonprofit communications, with opportunities to build a professional portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Create digital graphics to promote Chamber events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Assist with assembly and layout of the Chamber’s annual program book (content and direction provided).
  • Develop membership promotional materials and other event collateral.
  • Support occasional website updates or troubleshooting, including communicating with the Chamber’s domain host customer support as needed.
  • Work with the Communications Manager and Vice President to ensure all materials align with Chamber brand guidelines (fonts, colors, photography library).

Learning Outcomes
Interns will:

  • Gain experience designing for both digital and print platforms.
  • Learn how to prepare files for commercial printing.
  • Develop skills in project management and deadline-driven work.
  • Contribute to the communications of a nonprofit membership organization.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Prior design experience (class projects or portfolio samples) preferred.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
  • In-person and remote options available; in-person preferred
  • Paid internship (rate to be determined).
